Patient Focused Laboratory Medicine (PFLM) welcome the outcome of the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM) strategic conference 2026 “Laboratory Medicine for Society”.

This article will not focus specifically on the HbA1c incident but will use HbA1c as an example of what we have used for a springboard for change and gives an overview of key areas that clinical laboratories should be considering as part of their risk management for the services provided for patient care.
